Recent study has shown that multiple antennas yield substantial increases in channel capacity. Toward this end, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel model construct comprising multiple antenna arrays at both ends of the wireless link. An effective and practical way to approaching the capacity of MIMO wireless channels is to employ Space-Time (ST) Coding. ST Coding is a coding technique designed for use with multiple transmits antennas. Space-Time Block Coding (STBC) is a MIMO transmit strategy which exploits transmit diversity and high reliability. STBCs can be divided into two main classes, namely, Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (OSTBCs) and Non Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (NOSTBCs). The OSTBCs achieve full diversity with low decoding complexity, but at the price of some loss in data rate. During this thesis, we focus the transmitter and receiver diversity for SIMO, MISO and MIMO channel. We use Matlab software to simulate the results and compare the symbol error rate of the basic types such as SD, EGC, MRC, Alamouti code, Dominant eigenmode and OSTBC.en_US
