dc.description.abstract | Hotel Switching Intention has become a important issue in hotel industry. The
statistics of increasing number of travelers coming to Ho Chi Minh city and
purchasing 3-star hotels to stay is concluded by HCMC Department of Culture, Sports,
and Tourism, indicating that there are highly competitive in 3-star hotel industry in
HCMC. The hotel managers of 3-star hotels called for help to define which critical
factors affecting hotel switching intention.
Despite the rhetoric about hotel switching intentions, little is known of its meaning or
measurement especially among hotels’ managers. A broad measure is required to
address the questions of critical factors affecting hotel switching intention. That is one
that not only captures psychology of travelers’ hotel switching intention, but also
helping the hotel managers develop strategies to retain customers in the highly
competitive hotel industry.
This study is a pilot study of evaluating critical factors affecting on hotel switching
intention by travelers staying in 3-star hotels in HCMC, using quantitative
methodology to conduct research.
The preliminary findings of the study indicate that travelers tend to switch hotels
when they have high variety seeking behavior and the hotel has low tangibles, low
reliability, low responsiveness of service quality, low switching cost, low comparative
attractiveness comparing to hotel’s competitors. | en_US |
