Human resource planning - Case study of Dong Nai general hospital
Abstract
Human resource planning is an important aspect of human resources
management that combines three important activities: forecasting, identifying and
acquiring the right number of people with the proper skills, and creating interactive
links between organization objectives and people planning activities. In the health care
organization, human resource is described as the heart of the health care system and the
most important aspect of health care. Therefore, using qualitative methods, this
research aims to get insight into human resource planning of Dong Nai General
Hospital for five-year period of time, which is between 2014 and 2018. The findings
suggest that the hospital is still facing a shortage in (highly) skilled medical personnel,
but it is striving to overcome the problem. The research found out that the hospital
decided to train their medical staff by internal training, inviting experts to training, and
sending their medical staff to training sessions of some famous hospitals in Vietnam
and other countries such as Thailand, Taiwan, and Singapore. In addition, they planned
to hire external experts to collaborate and share their skills to staff of the hospital. In
general, we can say that Dong Nai General Hospital have achieved some positive
results, and is on the right track to accomplish their goals regarding its human resource
planning.
