dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between characteristics of chairman of board and firm performance for a panel of Vietnamese corporations. It examines the impact of education, demographic background (including age and tenure) and CEO duality on firm performance. The empirical researches have studied about the relationship between education of CEO and board characteristics to firm performance. However, it is hard to find articles or researches whose topic focus on the impact of chacracteristics of chairman to firm performance. Therefore the purpose of this thesis is to point out that relationship and also to acknowledge the question that whether those factors (education, demographic characteristics, and CEO duality) are important to enable the success of the Chairman in achieving a better firm performance or not.
