Critical factors influencing e-learner satisfaction - A case of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Abstract
Developed from distance learning, e-learning can be described as providing learning process for those who face with distance barrier. At the beginning of 21st century, e-learning has visions in bring learning community and long-life study.
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is reshaping universities worldwide. Universities in Vietnam have a tendency to utilize and incorporate e-learning – a tool developed from ICT – in teaching and learning process so as to meet the instructors‘ and students‘ requirements. To reduce the risk of failure when adapting e-learning, e-learner satisfaction need to be examined.
This study explores the decisive factors influencing learner pleasure towards e-learning through a survey. Based on the literature review on previous research, this study proposes a research model which includes thirteen sub-constructs (learner attitude towards computers, learner computer self-efficacy, learner Internet self-efficacy, instructor response timeliness, instructor characteristics, e-learning course flexibility, e-learning course quality, technology quality, Internet quality, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, diversity in assessment and learner perceived interaction with others) within six dimensions (learner, instructor, course, technology, design, and environment) and one dependent variable (perceived e-learner satisfaction). The findings implied that four dimensions namely learner, instructor, design and environment exerting influence on e-learner satisfaction.
The findings indicate universities how to improve level of e-learner satisfaction and additionally build up the e-learning administration.
