dc.description.abstractThis study analyses the efficiency and productivity growth in the majority of Vietnamese commercial banks over period 2008-2012, based on Malmquist TFP index calculated using DEA frontiers. The indices, for sources of productivity change, are then decomposed into three components, which are technical efficiency change, technical (technological) change, and scale efficiency change. Value-added approach has been utilised, with output-oriented DEA, in the selection of input and output variables for banking sector and the corresponding results is interpreted regarding banks’ performance of their specialness in Vietnam economy – credit allocation and payment services.en_US
