Internal factors affecting employee engagement - A case of bilingual teaching assistants at ILA VietNam in HCMC
Abstract
The research aims examine the most basic but significant internal factors affecting engagement of employees who work at bilingual teaching assistants at ILA English centers, which a good example of a multinational enterprise using domestic labor in the host country. Those factors are Compensation & Benefits, Physical Environment, Relationship with supervisor, Relationship with Co-worker, Employee Empowerment and Employee development that are related from the hierarchy of human needs by Maslow. The data is collected from four centers of ILA then analyzed by SPSS data. The result is that the staff is highly engaged to the organization. In this research, average mean scores of all items are high, but only two factors Relationship with Supervisor, and Employee Development have influence on Employee Engagement. Besides, there is a small gap between the headquarter and other centers regarding engagement of their bilingual teaching assistants.
