dc.description.abstractAcupuncture is considered as one of the oldest medical treatments in the world which is a traditional method of treating illnesses by inserting needles directly to the pain, or at the system of acupoints. There has been increasing trend in the use of acupuncture for rehabilitation of motor function after stroke, but several current modern medical methods are not very effective. In this study, the author creates a set of acupoints whose efficacy will be evaluated on 100 patients with hemiplegia due to stroke. Additionally, a low-laser therapy (LLLT) was also built-up as an alternative method to metal needles to reduce the risk of infection and the fear of needles. There was the participation of traditional medical doctors in order to observe and ensure the safety rules during the experiments. To carry out the research, the authors initially practiced acupuncture needles at twelve acu-points including Hegu (LI4), Zhicou (SJ6), Shousanli (LI10), Quchi (LI11), Yemen (SJ2), Taichong (Liv3), Jiexi (St-41), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), Xuehai (SP-10), Zusaanli (St-36), Yanglingquan (Gb-34), and Fengchi (Gb-20) on 100 hemiplegic patients in Military 175 Hospital. Every case received the similar period of needling acupuncture during 3 months. At the end of this treatment process, 57 percentages of patients were nearly or completely recovered, in which one case at 25 points – serious sequels improved to 90 points – completely recovered and 18 others reached to 80 points – partly sequels according to Orgogozo Score. Besides, a LLLT system was investigated and successfully developed at Laboratory 108 – International University revealed several noticeable results. The Infrared laser was found to have be faster action, deeper penetration and to be more effective than He-Ne laser in acupuncture application. Also, this study used a chopper system could maximize the pulse of laser beam to 10,000 pulses per minute but still remain the power which ensures that the photons could continuously reach to the acupoints but do not harm the human skin.
