Through this thesis, the effects of intellectual capital on the financial performance of information technology firms in Vietnam is examined, which is applied the Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAICTM) model proposed by Ante Pulic (2000). This model is tested based on three indicators as capital0employed efficiency0(CEE), human0capital0efficiency (HCE) and structural capital efficiency (SCE). To examine the intellectual capital of information technology companies, needed data is collected from 25 listed firms on Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) for the five–year period from 2013 to 2017. Besides, firms‟ performance0is0measured0by return on assets (ROA) as explained variables, while VAIC and its three component as CCE, HCE, SCE are explanatory variables. Besides, the size and the leverage of firms is used as control variables. The linear multiple regression is applied to estimate and interpret the results of data. The results of this study present that to information technology industry, the value added intellectual coefficient has insignificant impact on firms‟ performance. Moreover, capital employed efficiency and human capital efficiency have significant positively effect on return on assets, in which capital employed efficiency is the most influence variable. The findings recommend that IT firms should focus on improving in investment of tangible assets and human capital for better enhancing return on asset as well as the profitability.
