With the rapid development of medicine in the new century, the amount of data in the industry is increasing at a rapid rate. The need to manage, share, and seek information in the medical field is also set and met in part thanks to the search engines. Some well-known search engines like Google now allow users to search for relevant data by entering keywords and finding documents containing that keyword. With search methods like this, the results sometimes have nothing to do with what the user wants to find because the search engines do not understand the meaning of the keyword. For computer to understand the semantics of words or sentences, we need an ontology that supports the underlying tools. Ontology is like a database of a particular field, it describes everything in that field including definitions of terms, the properties of objects, and the relationship between them. It will allow the computer to "understand" the human-like semantics, to share information across different systems. With the huge amount of data available in the current medical world and the development of semantic webs, building an ontology for this field is a necessity. However, when it comes to the medical field, medicine is a very important factor. Recognizing the importance of drugs for human life as well as the need of an ontology for updating drug data through sources, developing an ontology-based medicine database management system is very meaningful and practical.en_US
