dc.description.abstract | Talent Retention has appeared as current issue of the new decade which caused special attention from organizations and raised needs to transform strategies from human resources management to talent management. In order to deeply understand the demands from employees especially from new generation in workplace, numerous studies have been conducted to evaluate the elements affecting the decision whether to stay or leave from employees in order to give suitable recommendations to employers. In Vietnam, labor shortage has always been a critical issue to organizations especially in such high demand industry like hospitality industry. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out the best solutions to retain employees in hospitality industry in Vietnam context. The study attempted to examine the impacts of immaterial factors including training and development, emotional exhaustion, empowerment, supervisor support, and intrinsic motivation on talent retention intention in order to give suggestions for the industry.
Quantitative approach was mainly applied in this research. The questionnaire was developed and delivered to 258 Gen Y employees working in hospitality industry in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. The results showed that four out of five elements, namely Training and Development (TD), Emotional Exhaustion (EE), Empowerment (EP), Supervisor Support (SS) were significantly correlated to Talent Retention Intention (TRI). Meanwhile, Intrinsic Motivation (IM) does not influence on employees’ decision to retain.
In the end, limitations of the study would be pointed out to provide useful suggestions for further study. Besides, from the findings, recommendations for organizations in hospitality industry were given so that they can take appropriate strategies and practices to improve employee turnover rate. | en_US |
