dc.description.abstractThis study tackles the issue of order allocation from various sources to various destinations by means any one of the available transportation modes such as road, rail and sea in a multi echelon supply chain network including suppliers, manufacturers and distribution centers in such a way that the total transportation cost is minimized. In this paper, CPLEX is applied to utilize the power of linear optimization to formulate problems, solve them, and analyze the solution. The result is supposed to illustrate not only the appropriate amount of goods transported from suppliers to plants by which transportation mode offering the most affordable price but also the allocation plan from plants to distribution centers to cope with demand fluctuation in real-world scenario.en_US
