dc.description.abstractRecently, SpO2 (Saturation of peripheral oxygen) is considered as the fifth vital sign besides four other signs such as: breath pulsation, vessel pulsitile, temperature and blood pressure. SpO2 is the ratio between HbO2 (oxidized hemoglobin) and total hemoglobin (oxidized and reduced) (= HbO2/(HbO2+Hb)). HbO2 is hemoglobin which carries oxygen in blood to all parts of the human body, and Hb is the one which doesn’t. Pulse oximeter is a device widely used in hospital, clinic, nursing home and even private home. It helps doctors follow the patients’ conditions in many cases such as patient need anesthesia for operation, new born child, and also diseases from lack of oxygen in blood. Pulse Oximeter is produced base on the concept of light absorption of HbO2 and Hb for red and infrared light. In my thesis, I will do research and then produce a Pulse Oximeter (using transmission method), display data as heart rate, SpO2, etc on PC screen and LCD. My pulse oximeter can also connect to PCs via Bluetooth, and then send all data to PCs. On PC screen, we can see the waveform of the indexes of our body. Base on those kinds of data, doctors will be able monitor the patients’ conditions even when they are not right beside the patients.en_US
